Photosynthesis - The process of a plant using sunlight to change CO2 in to Oxygen.
Chloroplast - A part of a cell. It contains chlorophyll and is green. It absorbs some of the sunlight for use in photosynthesis.
Chlorophyll - A green pigment found mainly in plants cells that traps energy from the sun and makes it available for the process of photosynthesis.
Cell - The basic unit of life.
Stomata - The holes on the underside of a leaf that control water loss and absorb CO2.
Carbon dioxide - CO2 is a chemical compound composed of 2 oxygen atoms and 1 carbon atom. Absorbed by plants in the process of Photosynthesis.
Oxygen - O2 is an element that is released by leave during the process of photosynthesis.
Nutrition - Is the process of selecting preparing food to have a balanced and healthy diet.
Nutrient - A substance in a food that provides a living thing with material for growth, development and good health.
Protein - A substance made from Amino Acids, used to build many structures in living things, including muscles in humans. Meats are high in protein.
Fat - Food substances that provide energy. Too many fats can lead to an unhealthy diet.
Carbohydrate - A substance found in most plants which provides long term energy. Starch is an example of a carbohydrate. Potatoes and rice contain high amounts of carbohydrates.
Mineral - A substance taken up from the soil water by a plants root and is use for the grown of a plant. Is also an essential nutrient in the diet of an animal.
Vitamin - A substance made by plants and animals that is an essential part of the diet to keep the body healthy. Fruit and vegetable are high in vitamins.
Anaemia - An unhealthy condition that may happen due to lack of Iron in the diet. Tiredness is a symptom.
Enzyme - A chemical made by cells to speed up life processes such as digestion. Enzymes break down the food in outré stomach.
